Lake County hosted "Sophomore Night" against Prairie State Tuesday night honoring Andrew Wells Jr., Kaden Chapa, and Roderick Bell. In the previous meeting at Prairie State, the Pioneers won 82-72.

The rematch in Grayslake went down to the wire.

Bell, who is the only returning starter from last year's 2-22 squad, had a couple of Sophomore Night-like moments in the second half. Despite only 5 points and 4 rebounds in the game, he hit a layup and a free throw with nine and a half minutes left in regulation that temporarily put the Lancers ahead, capping off a run by James Glazebrooks in which he tallied off three straight baskets. Bell's second layup cut the Pioneers' lead to 57-56 late in regulation.

With 19 seconds to go, the Pioneers led 59-56, and the Lancers had the ball. Lancers guard, and Vernon Hills grad, Justin St. Louis drained a game-tying three with 9.1 seconds left.

After a Lancers 30 second timeout, the Pioneers took the ball down to their end. Oluyemi Elutilo's three-point attempt goes off the rim, and Dekari Graham tips it in the basket and is fouled with 0.6 seconds left. Graham misses the free throw, and Nicholaus Harris-Huntley rebounds, but is not able to get the shot off.

The Pioneers were led by Morgan Rashed and Oluyemi Elutilo with 16 points each. Elutilo also added 11 rebounds and 2 blocks, and Rashed had 5 rebounds, 3 blocks, and 2 assists.

Randal Holm led the Lancers with 15 points and had 7 rebounds, 2 steals, and 2 assists. Justin St. Louis and James Glazebrooks each had 13 points. St. Louis was 3/10 from three and had 9 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals. Glazebrooks had 6 rebounds and 2 assists.
