Eagles Get Big Night from Tyler Anderson as the Eagles Hold Off Archrival Knights

matt now

The Knights and Eagles renewed their rivalry Wednesday night in Lake Villa. It is one of the more underrated rivalries up in the North Suburbs.

Prior to both Grayslake schools joining the now Northern Lake County Conference, Lakes and Grayslake North would play a non-conference game against each other; usually in early December.

As any rivalry matchup goes, these games are usually intense, and Wednesday night was no exception. While the Eagles got an 11-point win, this contest had plenty of intensity and grit.

After a slow start the Eagles led by 1 after the first quarter. It was mostly a back-and-forth second quarter, but the Eagles ended the half on a 13-2 run, and scored the final 10 points of the half.

The Knights, led by senior guard Dominic Jankowski, were able to cut the Eagles lead to 6 late in the fourth quarter, but the Eagles finished the game on a 6-1 run knocking off the Knights 60-49.

The Eagles were led by senior guard Tyler Anderson. The 6-2 senior had 12 of his 19 points in the first half, and hit 3 of 7 from three overall. 6-6 senior Brock Marino had 16 points, including a catch-and-dunk late in regulation, and he had 9 rebounds. Senior guard Tyson Dewey had 7 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists.

Dominic Jankowski, who is a NLCC player of the year candidate, led the Knights with 25 points. Sophomore guard Jayden Hunt had 11 points, and freshman Uros Mitrovic had 5 points and 5 rebounds.
