After opening the season with a 52-7 victory at Finlandia, the Benedictine University Eagles opened their home schedule with Loras college. The Eagles offense exploded once again in this affair.
Quarterback Tyler Jarnigan came up big for the Eagles along with the receiving trio of Sami Ayash, Deandre Holliday, and Nathan Rillo. The three receivers each had over 100 yards receiving on 7 catches. Ayash had the first two touchdowns of the game (59 and 45 yards). The Eagles led 34-6 at the half, and Jarnigan had nearly 350 yards passing by halftime.
In the second quarter, the Duhawks offense went no huddle. It proved to be effective in the third quarter as they got the score to 34-19 at the start of the 4th. First play of the 4th quarter, the Duhawks blocked an Eagles field goal attempt, and Mike Barber returned it 85 yards for the touchdown to put the Duhawks within 8.
The Eagles would score 94 seconds later as Jarnigan connected with Holliday for a 30 yard touchdown swinging the momentum back to the Eagles. Jarnigan would add a 43 yard strike to Ayash at the 7:38 mark to complete the 48-26 win. Jarnigan finished 25/35, 502 yards, and 7 touchdown passes.
The Eagles (2-0) open up conference play at home Saturday afternoon against Concordia University Wisconsin (2-0).
