Hawks Win 4th Straight; Knock off Broncos in Barrington

The Hawks and Broncos faced off in Barrington Saturday afternoon with playoff spots at stake. Both teams got off to rough starts with the Hawks losing their first 2, and the Broncos losing their first 3. Since then, the Hawks have won 3 straight, and the Broncos have won 2 straight.

Hoffman Estates dominated the first half, and lead 20-0 at halftime. Aidan Cyr (12/23, 152 yds, TD, 2 Int) helped put the Hawks on the board with a 33 yard touchdown pass to receiver Stephon Sellers (5 rec, 82 yds). The story of the game though was junior running back, Quincy Williams. Williams had 2 1-yard runs in the first half, the second of which came after a Nate Cleveland interception. He finished with 31 carries for 176 yards, and 3 catches for 10 yards.

The Hawks were in cruise control throughout the second half. The Broncos had chances to score at the end of the first half, and into the second half. They finally got on the board at the 8:51 mark of the 4th quarter with Dillon Fitzpatrick's 17 yard run. Despite a better second half for Barrington, they only had the Fitzpatrick touchdown to show for it as the Hawks finished with a big road win 20-7.

Fitzpatrick finished with 13 carries for 49 yards, 3 receptions for 15 yards, and threw a 42 yard bomb to receiver John Gurskis ( 4 rec, 106 yds). Broncos quarterback Payton Soske went 8/24, 109 yards, and 2 picks, and had 9 carries for 71 yards, including a 45 yard run towards the end of the first half.

The Hawks (4-2, 2-0 MSL West) will host Schaumburg (3-3, 1-1 MSL West), and the Broncos (2-4, 1-1 MSL West) will travel to Palatine (5-1, 2-0 MSL West).
