Sorensen and Huber Lead Huge Second Half; Wildcats Top Young Blue Devils

matt now

North Suburban Conference play began Tuesday night with the Wildcats hosting the Blue Devils. Last season the Wildcats swept the season series winning both games by double digits.

That trend would continue as the Wildcats defeated a young Warren Squad 61-45. Warren got off to a 10-2 start, and led 30-23 at halftime.

Cue Kaj Sorensen.

Sorensen hit two consecutive threes as part of an 11-4 run to start the half. That run tied the game at 34 before Sorensen hit two free throws to put the Wildcats ahead for good. Sorensen finished with 11 points and was 2/5 from three.

All five of Libertyville's starters finished with double-digit scoring. Senior guard Jack Huber led with 13 points, including a three-pointer at the third quarter buzzer. Freshman Blaise Lavista had 11 points, including two threes. Senior bigs Aidyn Boone and Cole Bonder finished with 12 and 10 points respectively, and had 7 rebounds each.

The Blue Devils have a good mixture of seniors, juniors, and sophomores. The lone starting sophomore Jack Wolf led the Blue Devils with 13 points, and was 3/8 from three. Junior point guard Josh Stewart, a Carmel transfer, finished with 9 points. Senior guard Adrian Jones and 6-5 junior Alex Daniels finished with 8 points each.

The Wildcats (4-3, 1-0) host Carmel Thursday night at 7. The Blue Devils (5-2, 0-1) will travel to Stevenson Saturday Afternoon at 3.
