Thursday night, the DuPage Valley Conference had a slate of rematches. One of those rematches was the battle of Naperville. In week 6, Naperville Central won a tight defensive ballgame against Naperville North 10-7.
It was all Huskies Thursday night. After a Logan Ellison field goal put the Redhawks up 3-0, the Huskies put together a 6:12 drive that ended with a 3-yard run by Danny Eloe (5 carries, 49 yards, TD). Next Redhawks possession, Huskies defensive lineman Jackson Bauer batted down a pitch and recovered it. Cole Arl (6 carries, 25 yards, 2 TD) would score from 3 yards out moments later.
Those two first quarter touchdowns by the Huskies set the tone for the rest of the game as the domination continued in the second half. The Huskies would add two more touchdown runs in the 3rd quarter; one from Nate Jacobs (2 yards) and one from Cole Arl (12 yards). Jacobs finished with 6 carries for 43 yards, and Arl finished with 6 carries for 25 yards.
After the early field goal from the Redhawks, the Huskies defense would continue to put up goose eggs thanks in part to 3 takeaways (1 fumble recovery, 2 interceptions). The Huskies (7-2, 4-2 DVC) rolled over the Redhawks (6-3, 4-2 DVC) 31-3.
Huskies quarterback Aidan Gray went 17/22 for 148 yards and an interception, and had 14 carries for 88 yards. Chris McCormack went 8/16 for 93 yards and 2 interceptions, and had 7 carries for 37 yards.
Receiver Luke Williams caught 3 passes for 57 yards, and had an interception on defense toward the end of the 4th quarter. Redhawks running back Tyler Dodd had 16 carries for 70 yards, and caught 2 passes for 57 yards including a 47 yard reception that set up the early field goal.
With their 7th win Thursday night, the Huskies are now in position to clinch a first-round home playoff game.
