Jaeden King Continues His Renaissance Season; Cougars Get Big Road Win Over Rival Saints


St. Xavier traveled down to Joliet for a Saturday CCAC matinee against the Fighting Saints of St. Francis. It will be the only meeting between the two squads. The Saints are coming off an 85-80 victory over Governors State, and the Cougars are coming off an 81-63 loss to Indiana-South Bend.


The Cougars got the start they wanted outscoring the Saints 16-5 in the first four plus minutes. The Saints recovered and hung around throughout the afternoon getting big contributions from Carter Fayhee and Lewis McGlasson. The Cougars lead 40-34 at halftime.


Cougars guard Jaeden King took over in the second half. The 6-6 senior scored 18 of his 29 points in the second half as the Cougars pulled away late and finished off the Saints 82-65. King also had 4 rebounds and 4 steals, and he was 4/6 from 3 and 9/11 at the free throw line.



6-8 Jack Halverson, a Peotone grad, had 14 points and 3 blocks, and Cedric Johnson had 12 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals.


Carter Fayhee led the Saints with 18 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists, and 5 steals. Fayhee fouled out late in the second half. Lewis McGlasson had 15 points off the bench, including 4/7 from 3. Darius Wright ha 12 points and 3 assists, and Aitor Anabitarte had 10 points and 5 rebounds.
