Julius Ellens with 4 Rushing Touchdowns as Hilltoppers Win Home Opener over the Huskies



Glenbard West began their home schedule on Saturday against conference foe, Oak Park-River Forest. It was a back and forth game throughout the first half.


The first drive of the game for the Huskies lasted under 4.5 minutes. They capped it off on a 22 yard pass from Jack Gooch to Ryan Martin (6 receptions, 79 yards, TD). Gooch (18/28, 193 yards, 2 TD, Int) would later add a 27 yard touchdown on a catch and run from running back Eric Evans at the 7:06 mark of the second quarter.


Then Julius Ellens took over the game. He scored from 6 yards out to tie the game on a drive that took 1:12. On the first possession of the second half Ellens capped it off with a 47 yard touchdown run to put the Hilltoppers up for good. He would add touchdown runs of 1 and 29 yards respectively in the 4th quarter and finished with 23 carries for 206 yards and 4 touchdowns in the 35-14 win.


The Hilltoppers defense shut down the Husky offense in the second half, outscoring them 21-0. Defensive end Filip Maciorowsiki recorded a sack, and defensive back Joey Campanella had an interception.


The Huskies (2-1, 0-1) host Lyons (3-0, 1-0) Friady night, and the Hitters (3-0, 1-0) will travel to Proviso West (2-1, 0-1).
