Lancers Shake Off Slow Start and Beat Waubonsee; Five Players in Double Digits

matt now

Skyway Conference play opened up Tuesday night with the Lancers hosting the Chiefs. The Chiefs had the best overall record going into the contest amongst Skyway Conference teams at 11-3. The Lancers held an 8-6 record, tied with Prairie State for the fourth best overall record.

The Lancers were a bit rusty to start the game. They hadn't played in nearly a month when they lost to Bryant & Stratton 87-65 on December 14th. They got it together late in the first half and defeated the Chiefs 82-75. The Lancers did a great job moving the ball throughout the contest, and had five players in double digits.

The second half charge was started by Randal Holm (18 points, 6 rebounds, 7/8 free throws), but Holm had to spend some time on the bench due to foul trouble.

Enter Nicholaus Harris-Huntley and A.J. Wells.

Harris-Huntley scored a season high 17 points off the bench with 6 rebounds and 6 assists. He assisted a couple of Wells' buckets. Wells had 7 points and 4 rebounds off the bench.

Terryon Brumby had 15 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists. Justin St. Louis had 12 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 steals. James Glazebrooks had 11 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 steals.

Jaylyn Kelley led the Chiefs with 18 points (4/8 3 pt.), and 5 assists. Colton Schutt had 16 points, and Brice Langford had 9 points and 12 rebounds before fouling out late in regulation.

Thursday night, the Lancers (9-6, 1-0) will host Oakton (6-9, 0-1), and the Chiefs (11-4, 0-1) will travel to Moraine Valley (12-3, 1-0).
