I went back to my alma mater for the final time this season Friday night as the host Eagles and Rams faced off in a rubber match. The Rams won on their home floor back in January, and the Eagles did the same February 7th.
The Eagles led by 3 after the first quarter. Rams guard Sam Cooper caught fire in the second quarter as the Rams outscored the Eagles 19-7 in the frame, and led 26-17 at halftime.
The Eagles attempted a comeback in the second half with the home court on their side. Late in regulation, Eagles point guard Cade Primack was fouled on a three point attempt. He hit all three free throws, and the Eagles trailed 39-38 with 2:41 left.

The Eagles wouldn't score again as the Rams ended the game on a 9-0 run, and clinched the Regional title with a 48-38 victory in Lake Villa. The Eagles had a chance to score in that stretch, but Tyson Dewey was called for a charge on a layup attempt.
The previously mentioned Sam Cooper led all scorers with 18 points on 4 threes, including 13 first half points on 3 threes. Rams 6-6 senior, and College of Lake County commit, Jake Gibson had 12 points with 6 boards and 3 blocks. Gibson did a great job defending NLCC co-player of the year Brock Marino (8 points, 8 rebounds).

Dennis Estepp had 10 points for the Rams including 7/9 free throws. Estepp iced the game hitting 5 of 6 at the line. Cade Primack led the Eagles with 10 points, and also hit 7 of 9 free throws. James Kania finished with 7 points.
The Eagles finish the season 21-8 overall. The Rams play St. Viator in their own building Wednesday night at 7. Congrats to the Rams on winning back-to-back Regional titles.
