Quarterfinal Bracket:
Oswego East 56 Stevenson 39
Seniors Mehki Lowery and Bryce Shoto set the tone for this game. The 6-7 Lowery, who's committed to Towson, was all over the court. He finished with 8 points, 11 rebounds, 6 steals, and 2 assists. Shoto, who transferred from Plainfield Central, led all scorers with 17 points, including 3/6 from three. Yorkville Christian transfer Jehvion Starwood had 14 points, and 4 assists. Stevenson's Jack Dabbs had 9 points off the bench, and 6-6 junior Christian Uremovich had 7 points and 7 rebounds.
DePaul Prep 64 Morgan Park 42
The Rams got off to a slow start before getting things together in the second quarter. The X-factor was senior Maurice Thomas, who had 16 points, and hit 4/5 from three. Sophomore guard Robert Walls was instrumental in helping the Rams pull away in the second half. He had 15 points (3/4 3 pt.), and 4 steals. Junior PJ Chambers and Sophomore Jonas Johnson had 10 points each, and Johnson led the Rams with 8 rebounds. Kyle Duff-Hudson had 10 points for the Mustangs, and Orlando James had 9 points, including 7 points on two threes in the first quarter.
Marian Catholic 54 Rockford Auburn 49
The Spartans win the fast-paced affair. Quentin Jones and Donovan Juzang took charge after a slow start. The 6-4 Jones had 20 points and 8 rebounds, and Juzang had 17 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists. Jonah Weathers had 7 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 steals off the bench. Adrian Agee and Rakim Chaney led the way for the Knights. Agee had 18 points (3/6 3 pt.). Chaney had 15 points (3/4 3 pt.), 8 rebounds, and 4 steals. Freshman Amir Danforth had 7 points and 7 rebounds off the bench.
Hinsdale Central 69 South Elgin 59
A good solid ballgame that got a little interesting in the end. The Red Devils were led by 6-6 senior Ben Oosterbaan. Oosterbaan had 26 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists. Senior guard Patrick Graham had 15 points, and forward Chase Collignon had 11 points and 7 rebounds. Vikings guard Carson Brownfield had 25 points and 9 rebounds, and sophomore Jayden Tyler had 14 points, including 2/6 from 3.
Consolation Bracket:
Lincoln-Way Central 77 Glenbard East 52
This was a tight game through the first three quarters, but the Knights pulled away in the fourth. Knights forward Ben McLaughlin led all scorers with 26 points, and Jack Barrett had 11 points (3/3 3 pt.). Braden Meyer had 13 points off the bench. Aleks Jajic led the Rams with 12 points.
Richards 65 Morton 58
Freshman Marcus Jennings led the Bulldogs with 17 points (3/3 3 pt.), and Eddie Hrebic had 15 (5/12 3 pt.). 6-6 Sam Cain had 10 points and 10 rebounds. Adrian Anderson led the Mustangs with 24 points, 5 rebounds and 4 steals. 6-6 Victor Garrett had 11 points, 11 rebounds, and 4 blocks.
Maine South 52 Willowbrook 40
This may not quite be a typical Maine South team, but they do have Kaden Karstens. The senior guard had 14 points and 6 rebounds. Sophomore guard Tyler Sierra had 12 points (2/6 3 pt.), and Chris Gonzalo had 7 points and 11 rebounds. Isaac Sobieszczyk had 17 points, 10 rebounds, 3 steals, and 2 blocks, and Noah Campbell had 11 points for the Warriors.
St. Charles East 59 Oak Forest 47
Coach Pat Woods has yet another scrappy team put together led by Jack Borri (14 points), Eddie Herrera (12 points), and Steven Call (5 points, 8 rebounds). The Bengals are in a transition year with new coach TJ Cobbs, and young guards DeShawn Nolan (9 points, 5 assists), and Johnny Wiggins (12 points). This was a good back-and-forth game that saw the Saints pull away late in the second half.
