I haven't done another rankings post since the preseason so this was long overdue.
Here is my Men's Basketball Top 10
1. John A. Logan (18-2)
No losses in either region, and they've beaten #2 Vincennes. Two road games coming up Wednesday and Saturday at Olney Central and Shawnee before rematch with Vincennes next Wednesday.
2. Vincennes (21-2)
Could have easily been number one with that record, but the two losses to #1 John A. Logan and Southwestern Illinois puts them at number 2. At Shawnee Wednesday before rematch with John A. Logan at home next Wednesday.
3. Milwaukee Area Technical College (19-2)
Despite losing to John Wood earlier in the season, I took the Stormers at number 3 over the defending champion Bulldogs. Conference game at Joliet Tuesday night before showdowns Thursday night at #4 South Suburban and Saturday afternoon at home against #8 Moraine Valley.
4. South Suburban (19-3)
The defending DII National Champions have one loss in either region at Spoon River back in early December. Have great wins against #6 Bryant & Stratton and #8 Olive Harvey. Big showdown with #3 Milwaukee Area Technical College at home Thursday night.
5. Triton (16-5)
Got a great overtime victory at home against a tough Southeastern team. Road games Thursday night at Truman and a great Saturday matinee at Highland.
6. Bryant & Stratton (19-5)
Had a couple of nice wins earlier in the year against Morton and #8 Moraine Valley, and a couple of tough road losses recently to #4 South Suburban and Rock Valley. Two home games Wednesday and Saturday against Milwaukee School of Engineering (JV) and Illinois Valley.
7. Olive Harvey (16-5)
Nice wins early in the year at #8 Moraine Valley and at home against Prairie State and #9 Danville Area as well. Tough losses to Morton, Highland, and Sauk Valley. Home games against East West (JV) and Indiana Elite Tuesday and Saturday, and a conference game at Malcolm X in between on Thursday.
8. Moraine Valley (17-3)
The Cyclones have one nine straight so I was tempted to rank them higher, but 2 losses are to #6 Bryant & Stratton and #7 Olive Harvey. Currently 6-0 in a competitive Illinois Skyway Conference, including wins over Waubonsee and Morton. Will have home games against Prairie State and Elgin, before a Saturday matinee showdown at #3 Milwaukee Area Technical College.
9. Danville Area (14-4)
Have nice wins over Kankakee and Prairie State. Only lost to #2 Vincennes by 6 and #7 Olive Harvey by 3. Will host Spoon River Wednesday night and travel to Lincoln Land on Saturday.
10. Waubonsee (15-6)
Tough choice for the final spot, but ultimately chose Waubonsee. Started the conference schedule on a sour note, but have since won four straight, including wins against Prairie State and Morton. Will travel to Oakton Tuesday and host Lake County in a rematch Thursday.
