It was both the conference opener, and the home opener Saturday night for the Wheaton Thunder as they hosted Illinois Wesleyan. Early on the Thunder showed why they are one of the top teams in the country.

He would add 4 touchdown passes in the first half; 2 each to tight end, and Westmont grad, Ben Juska (2 rec, 46 yards), and running back Giovanni Weeks (4 rec, 113 yards). Bowers finished with 333 passing yards in the game. Running back Kyle Carter added a 1 yard run, and receiver Matthew Tucker caught 8 of Bowers' passes for 79 yards.

Titans quarterback, and Fremd grad, Ryan Saxe finished with 301 yards, 1 touchdown, and 2 interceptions. The one touchdown pass was to Charlie Hamilton (7 rec, 93 yards) for 30 yards. Saxe's main go-to guy was Myles Kee, who caught 12 passes for 168 yards. The Thunder defense dominated the Titans as they forced 4 turnovers. Saxe was sacked 5 times, including 2 sacks from defensive tackle, and Rockford Christian grad, Jaden Ferlita.
